The Chabad Jewish Center is preparing to welcome what organizers expect will be their largest High Holiday gathering ever.
Organizers say limited seating is available for Rosh Hashana dinner, which will take place on Monday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the Chabad Jewish Center, located at 11325 West Atlantic Boulevard. Guests will enjoy a four-course traditional Holiday dinner featuring gefilte fish and salads, chicken soup with matzah balls, a main course of brisket with tzimmes, kugel, and roasted vegetables, and warm apple strudel with ice cream.
The services will feature Hebrew-English prayer books and commentary with short, humorous, and inspirational ideas throughout the observance. Reservations are required, with open seating available free of charge. Additionally, reserved and spiritual seats can be secured for $136.
Sponsorship opportunities are being offered, and leaders at the center note that no one should spend the Holidays alone and assistance is available for those in need.
In preparation for the High Holidays, the Yizkor Memorial Book is also being compiled to honor the memory of departed loved ones. The deadline to submit names is Monday, September 15.
Rosh Hashanah services will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 23 and 24. Children’s and teen programs will run each day from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the Shofar service scheduled for 12:00 p.m. On Wednesday afternoon, the community is invited to “Shofar in the Park,” a family holiday experience at Cypress Park, located at 1301 Coral Springs Drive in Coral Springs, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Yom Kippur services will begin with Kol Nidrei on Wednesday, October 1, at 7:00 p.m., followed by children’s and teen programs from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The observance will continue on Thursday, October 2, with children’s and teen programs from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and the Yizkor service at 12:00 p.m.
Organizers also note that sponsorships are needed to help cover the costs of security and children’s programming. Those interested are encouraged to contact Rabbi Denburg for more information.
