The Chabad Jewish Center is launching a new initiative aimed at fostering community engagement through creativity, education, and wellness.
The program, called SparkSpace, will offer a rotating schedule of weekly classes ranging from movement and mental health to technology, music, and the arts.
According to the organizers, the goal is to create “a safe and welcoming environment” where people of all backgrounds can connect through shared experiences.
“We are excited to be launching something new, meaningful, and full of life at the Chabad Jewish Center,” the center announced in a flyer. “Our goal for SparkSpace is to give you a reason to get out of the house, to meet new people, to make new friends, and try something creative. This will be a place where you come alive again with lifelong learning, laughter, and connection.”
Among the first offerings is Ageless Grace, a six-week seated movement class focusing on both mental and physical wellness. Based on research in neuroplasticity, the program is designed to improve memory, coordination, and overall brain function. It is open to all community members, regardless of religious affiliation or physical ability, provided they can sit in a chair.
The series begins on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 12:30 p.m. and runs for six weeks. The cost is $54.
Also on the schedule is Therapeutic Fitness, a standing movement class led by Matthew Hamburger. The program draws from yoga and physical therapy to help reduce tension, improve posture, and increase mobility—without the use of mats or floor exercises. It begins Tuesday, August 26, at 2:30 p.m., and runs for four weeks. The fee is $36.
On the creative side, Paper Tole Art, taught by instructor Lenae Herman, is offered as an ongoing weekly series, meeting each Monday. Participants will learn how to create three-dimensional artwork by layering and shaping paper elements. The four-week course costs $80, with additional charges for personalized supplies. Enrollment is open, and participants can join at any time.
SparkSpace is expected to expand its programming throughout the year, with future workshops planned in creative writing, digital skills, music, and mindfulness, organizers said.
Classes will be held at the Chabad Jewish Center, 11325 W. Atlantic Blvd.
