Coral Glades High School football had their best season in school history in 2020 and is certainly ready to compete again this year under Head Coach Cam Thomas.
The Jaguars, who went 3-3 last year, made the postseason for the first time in school history. They had wins over Coral Springs Charter, J.P. Taravella, and Pompano Beach before they dropped a pair of games in the playoffs.
However, Coach Thomas believes this is a team that can be the best the school has ever had.
“We are excited about this year,” he said. “I can’t wait for the challenge this year in a new district.”
The Jaguars are set with quarterback Dylan Knaebel. As a junior last season, he threw for over 1,000 yards and had 12 touchdowns through the air and four on the ground.
This year, they also have a talented group of receivers in Kyle Williamson, Joshua Guerin, and Joseph Rispoli. At the same time, Aiden Harris gets the opportunity to be one of the running backs this season.
Defensively, the Jaguars, who allowed 14 points or less in three of their games last season, have Tyler Hunt IV and Jordan Lyons all on the defensive line. In the secondary, Coach Thomas expects big years from cornerbacks Rodney Stone and Jaden Wilson.
Coral Glades plays its first game of the season at home against Coral Springs High School on Thursday, August 26. Throughout the season, the Jaguars will also have games with J.P. Taravella, Coral Springs Charter, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and face the seventh-ranked team in the state with Western High School.
