
Coral Glades Football Wins Swamp Bowl. {Coral Glades Athletics}
Coral Glades’ success continues with the football team qualifying for the postseason along with other teams competing in the playoffs.
The Jaguars earned the eight seed and will play top-seeded Miami Palmetto Senior High School in their opening game on Friday, November 14. Coral Glades went 6-4 this year following wins against Coral Springs High School. Stranahan, Hallandale, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Boca Raton, and J.P. Taravella.
Coral Glades will play Palmetto, who ranks 54th in the state, and went 8-2 this year. Their only losses came at the hands of Southridge Northwestern High School. Kickoff is set for on Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m. The winner of this game will play either Santalucers or Christopher Columbus High School. Spanish River will payer Western High School while Goleman and South Dade High School will also play in the first round.
The golf team competed in the Regional Championship on Monday and had one player qualify for the State Championship. The girls’ team had two players compete at Osprey Pointe Golf Course, with Bianca Gibbs placing ninth with a 77. She advanced to the State Championship, while the boys’ team placed tenth. Cole Fisher and Brayden Peeler led the team in scoring. Next, Gibbs will play in the State Championship on Nov. 11-12.
The cross country team ran at the District Championship, with the boys’ team finishing 13th. Fabio Castillo placed 43rd with a time of 18.41.9. Aaron Hilaire was next to finish, placing 57th, followed by Victor Castillo, Evan Hall, Javier Flores, and Michael Malinowski. Jasmine Lemos- Alarcon came in 63rd for the girls, one spot ahead of Maya Frias, while Emilie Guzman and Jahlia Marte also ran for the Jaguars.
