Playing their first overtime game in three years, the Coral Glades boys basketball team picked up an enormous win to start the new year over Piper High School on Monday.
This was the first time the Jaguars won in the extra session since their memorable overtime win over J.P. Taravella in 2018.
With the two teams tied at 47 at the end of regulation, Coral Glades outscored the Bengals 6-3 in overtime to earn the 53-50 victory. Both senior Brian Etienne and Jon Barbecho finished the night with 12 points. Brandon Elrod scored nine and had 12 rebounds.
This was their third win of the season for the Jaguars, previously defeating Hollywood Hills High School and Coconut Creek.
However, Coral Glades fell by 14 points to Cooper City High School on Tuesday and will be back in action on Monday, January 10 against Coral Springs Charter at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers have one win in their first nine games.
