As several Coral Glades basketball players continue to get offers to play in college, their summer team continues to shine in league play and showcases.
The Jaguars went 7-0 in the Calvary Summer League, beating South Plantation, Sports Leadership and Management, Coconut Creek, Fort Lauderdale, Miami County Day, Calvary Christian Academy, and Chaminade Madonna High School.
Coral Glades won five of the games by double figures while also winning games by seven and two. Gavin Reed and Donovan Swain each had 15 in the team's first game. Reed went on to score 14 and 17 in the next two games, while Swain led the team in scoring twice. Kyler Theopile, Donovan Swain, and Ethan Jean Louis were all leading scorers as well.
The Jaguars then competed in two more showcases this summer. After recording three wins in form games at the Cardinal Gibbons Invitational, Coral Glades went 4-0 at the FABC Classic and 3-1 in the CBAC Classic.
Their four wins in their second showcase came against Milton, Grayson, Harlem, and Newton High School. The pile shined with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the first game and then 17 points and 12 rebounds in game two. The pile finished with a team-high 17 points against Harlem, while Swain, Reed, and Louis Jean were all in double figures. Reed, Theopile, and Swain combined for 47 in their final game.
In the CBAC Classic, the Jaguars' line loss came against Harlem despite 28 points from Swain. They won their other three games 66-39, 53-46, and 61-59 behind a game-winning shot from Theopile. Swain finished with at least 19 points in three of the games, while Theopile also led the team in scoring in one.
Coral Glades is coming off a historic season in which it won a second District Championship in the last three years and earned its first-ever win in Regionals. The Jaguars also won 20 games for the first time in school history and had only three players graduate this spring.
