It’s been 12 years since they’ve been to states, but this year the Coral Springs American Little League 11 and 12 year olds are ready. In just a few days the boys, who attend Coral Springs Middle School, will be heading to Tallahassee to play in the state tournament.
“They’re excited,” said Jake Hearron, secretary and treasurer for the team.“We knew we had a good team this year in this age group.”
This season, the team was 3-0 in districts with no hitters, and just went 2-0 in sectionals with no hitters, is heading to Tallahassee at 5-0.
“We’re having fun, and as a board, we’re excited because this gives us a chance to advertise baseball in Coral Springs,” said Hearron.
After the state tournament comes regionals in GA, which will be the last step before Williamsport PA for the International Little League World Series.
“So they’re halfway there and it’s exciting for all of us right now.”
