On Wednesday night, the Coral Springs Charter wrestling team hosted a meet at home for the first time in school history.
The Panthers competed against the second-best team in the state, Cardinal Gibbons and Cardinal Newman High School. CSC also hosted senior night where Hannah Mader, Andrew Lustigman, Brock Wilson, Griffin Perko, and D’Angelo Celestin were all honored.
Not only have these seniors been tremendous this year, they really made Head Coach Eric Perez’s job much easier in his first year.
“Coming into a new program, I wasn’t sure what to expect,” said Coach Perez. “However, having these seniors made the transition so easy. Not only helping me navigate my way through a new school but in their leadership and mentoring of the newer wrestlers.”
CSC defeated Cardinal Newman 60-12 but fell to Cardinal Gibbons 48-33. Preston Lindsay, Hunter Perez, Michael Mocco, and Owyn Vargas went undefeated after coming in third in the Coral Springs Dual Tournament on January 14-15.
Next, the Panthers will prepare for the Broward County Athletic Association Championship on January 28-29.
