The Coral Springs Charter marching band celebrated earning straight superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association Marching Music Performance Assessment (MPA) at Cypress Bay High School on October 19.
Band director David Cardona was proud of the band’s performance and believes the program will continue to improve. The Panthers have 43 members.
According to Cardona, the band leaders wrote the music and designed the show Bizarre Bazaar. The show includes props to create a bazaar environment. The band was evaluated on musical performance, auxiliaries, and overall appearance.
“The kids have been working hard since band camp and practicing twice weekly and often on Saturdays. We were able to persevere through hurricanes and other challenges,” said Cardona.
Band captain Breanna Zambrano, 18, a senior from Coral Springs, believes the band is a good organization for a high school student.
“I have made many friends in the band. We have worked hard together to earn a superior rating, and we are a family,” said Zambrano, a tuba player.
The Charter band is preparing for future performances. Cardona said they will participate in the Florida Marching Band Championships at John I. Leonard High School in Greenacres on November 16.
