Coral Springs Charter softball is heading back to the Regional Final following a 12-0 win over St. Brendan High School on Tuesday night.
“The girls brought their A games to the park tonight," Head Coach Mark Montimurro said. “Pitching was solid as usual, we played air-tight defense, and our bats came alive. A complete performance for sure.”
The Panthers needed only five innings to advance following a five-RBI game from Gio Gurgel. She finished a triple shy of the cycle and added her seventh home run. Addi Brown and Mia Rodriguez each drove in two runs while Tiggy Courtney, Addi Michel, and Shelby Stephens all had one RBI.
Courtney Wahlbrink tossed four shutout innings and struck out seven, while Sophia Bertorelli tossed a clean inning with two punch-outs as the Panthers have now outscored their opponents 27-0 in Regionals after previously winning a District and Big-8 Championship.
CSC is now 23-3 this year and will host Somerset Academy in the regional Final for the third straight year on Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. The Stallions have won the two postseason matchups but are seeded second after going 21-6 this year. They previously beat Aubrey Rogers and Cardinal Gibbons High School in Regionals after beating St. Brendan High School 10-0 in the District Championship.
