Teams from Coral Springs competed in the District Tournament, with one team winning its 10th straight Championship. At the same time, another made a run to the final in its division and qualified for Regionals.
Coral Springs Charter was the top seed and outscored their opponents 20-0 in the two games. They began the week beating Calvary Christian Academy 15-0, behind three RBIs from Mia Rodriguez. Jazzy Chung knocked in two while Addi Brown, Bree Martinelli, and Gio Gurgel plated one. Sophia Bertorelli and Emma Ruiz allowed only two hits in four innings, striking out nine.
The Panthers then won 5-0 on Thursday over Cardinal Gibbons High School to book their spot in Regionals. The Panthers scored two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth, highlighted by a home run from Heather Robertson. She finished the game with three RBIs, while Brown and Shelby Stevens each drove in one.
“It was a tough win,” Head Coach Mark Montimurro said. “Gibbons has an elite pitcher, and we had to make some adjustments in order to avoid the strikeout and put balls on the clay. The girls executed at a high level as they have done that all year long.”
CSC heads into Regionals as the top seed and will play Mater Lakes Academy in their first game on Wednesday, May 7, at 7 p.m. The Bears are 8-7 this year and beat Hialeah Miami Lakes High School in the District Championship. The winner of this game will play either St. Brendan or Pompano Beach High School. Somerset Academy, Aubrey Rodgers, Cardinal Gibbons, and LaBelle High School also qualified.

However, they will get another chance at the Wildcats in the opening round of Regionals on Thursday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m. The Wildcats are 17-5-1 this year with he winner facing either Park Vista or Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
