The Coral Springs Charter girls volleyball team won the District Championship for the second straight season.
The Panthers have won Districts three times in the last six years after pulling off a terrific win over Calvary Christian Academy on Thursday. Despite falling to them in four sets earlier this year, CSC got their revenge with a 27-25, 25-21, 25-19 victory.
This was the team’s 17th win of the season and third in the postseason after beating Dreyfoos School of the Arts in the quarterfinals and North Broward Prep in the semifinals. CSC did not drop a set in the tournament.
The Panthers team comprises six seniors: Alexandra Bruno, Sidney Berthiaume, Sydney Mills, Brittney Stella, Sarah Henault, and Julia Dicaprio. They are joined by Samantha McMillan, Isabella Nilsson, Caroline Worley, Alyson Gates, Jaide Keen, Olivia Greco, and Mia Luersen.
Bruno continued to dominate and has recorded over 350 kills this year. Stella and McMillan have recorded at least 100 each, while McMillan also leads the team in blocks. Henault recorded her 300th dig of the season in the win, while four players have at least 30 aces.
After winning the District Championship in 2021, the Panthers competed in regionals before falling to Cardinal Gibbons High School in the Semifinals. They will have another shot at winning their first Regional Championship in school history and making it to States. CSC will await to see who they will play and where based on results from other Districts.
