City Commissioner Joshua Simmons has been awarded the Gold Certificate of Excellence by the Florida League of Cities, the highest honor in its Certificate Program for Elected Municipal Officials.
In a statement from the city, the recognition highlights Simmons’ commitment to public service, leadership, and professional development. Between July 2024 and July 2025, he completed a series of training opportunities, including monthly webinars, the Institute for Elected Municipal Officials, the League’s Annual Conference, ethics education, and legislative events.
“The Florida League of Cities continues to offer outstanding educational opportunities for municipal leaders at every stage of their public service,” said FLC President and Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake. “By participating, elected leaders are strengthening their knowledge, growing professionally, and ensuring they are prepared to meet the needs of their communities with confidence and integrity.”
Simmons said the certificate reflects his dedication to residents. “As public servants, we owe it to our communities to constantly grow, listen and lead with integrity,” he said. “This certificate reflects my ongoing commitment to serve the residents of Coral Springs with the highest level of professionalism and purpose.”
Certificate recipients will be featured in the League’s online magazine and recognized at its annual conference.
