The Coral Springs High School baseball team had a busy spring break, with the Colts winning two of their four games this week in Sanford.
CSHS beat Western High School 6-5 in their first game. Charlie Wilson drove in three runs, Daniel Aneja had two RBIs, and Alexander Montero had one.
Saul Bethancourt was pulled early in this game in relief for Alexander Randazzo, who tossed 2.2 innings hitless innings. Angel Ruguian had three strikeouts before Wilson struck out four and earned the win.
CSHS beat Flagler Palm Coast High School 9-4, with Benthacourt pitching much better and earning the win. Rugian also tossed 3.2 hitless innings out of the bullpen.
Offensively, Montero had an RBI single in the first and a three-run double in the second. He finished the game with four hits and scored two runs. Aneja and Nicholas Pina also had RBI’s while Ruben Zuany scored three runs, and Manny Torres recorded two hits.
“The week started exactly how we wanted with cleaning up those unforced errors,” said Head Coach John Brown. “Our last two games, we didn’t handle the baseball very well. When we handle the baseball, we win. We can’t continue to spot teams with three-plus runs because we’re not making routine plays. We would potentially be a one to two-loss team if we just handled the baseball, but that will change.”
The Colts fell 13-0 against American Heritage School and 10-7 against Pembroke Pines Charter with Manny Alejandro getting selected to the All-Tournament Team. They are now 6-6 heading into their next game against Pompano Beach High School at 5:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles are 4-5-1 this year but scored a season-high 19 runs in their last game against Fort Lauderdale High School.
