The quest for another District Championship for the Coral Springs High School boys basketball team started up with a win in their first playoff game.
The Colts, who are the top seed in the District, defeated Spanish River Community High School 56-37 to move to 14-10.
“We played really well, especially on the defensive side of the ball,” said Head Coach Devin Barta. “Anytime you hold a team to 35 points, you give yourself a chance. I just thought I was a great team win.”
Greg Spate led the team with 15 points while Stevenson Borgella chipped in ten. Coach Barta also credits Jordan Carmona for playing well on the defensive end.
Next, CSHS will play Deerfield Beach on the District Semifinals on Wednesday, February 9 at 7 p.m. Deerfield Beach went 12-7 in the regular season. They then defeated Park Vista High School in their opening playoff game and also won 48-42 in their lone meeting back in the regular season.
