In a tribute to civil rights, the Coral Springs Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee is currently welcoming nominations for the 2024 MLK Monument Award.
This honor is given to an individual or organization in Coral Springs that exemplifies Dr. King’s ideals.
In 2023, teacher Annejeanette Washington-Collins was awarded for her outstanding service and contributions to the community. A resident of Coral Springs, Washington-Collins currently works as an American History Teacher at Ramblewood Middle School. She is also a STEM advocate, educator, and college professor.
Washington-Collins was chosen for the award for her dedication to her students and her involvement in various community organizations, including those representing African-American and Caribbean-American students.
“Annejeanette truly cares about her students and makes sure they are represented in various organizations in the community,” said Joshua Simmons, Coral Springs Commissioner. “She exemplifies the best qualities of a hardworking community leader.”
The nomination window remains open until January 19, 2024, with submissions accepted through their online form.
