A new program by the Coral Springs Police Department is set to equip residents with essential skills and knowledge for enhancing community safety and understanding local law enforcement roles.
The Coral Springs Police Department has announced the opening of its Citizen’s Police Academy. This initiative offers attendees a glimpse into the day-to-day life of the men and women in blue.
The Academy is free and open to all Coral Springs residents over 18. The event is planned to be tailored for individuals interested in understanding the nuances of law enforcement, particularly those planning to pursue a career in law enforcement.
Participants will gain first-hand experience and knowledge of public operations with several critical units of the police force, including the Strategic Enforcement Team, the K9 Unit, the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit, and the Training Unit.
This exposure is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement officers’ daily complexities and challenges.
CSPD notes that attendees will learn about law enforcement tactics and strategies, and upon graduation, they will also have the opportunity to join the Community Assisted Patrol. This role empowers them to actively contribute to public safety and make a positive impact in their neighborhoods.
Interested individuals must possess a valid driver’s license or state of Florida ID to participate. The weekly academy sessions begin on Thursdays starting April 4 and conclude on Thursday, June 20.
