K9 building Ribbon-cutting ceremony. {City of Coral Springs}
The Coral Springs Police Department has a new K9 unit building.
On June 17, city and police leaders participated in a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the building located at 4181 NW 121st Avenue.
“This is a project that provides our 5 K9s and handlers with a dedicated, safe, and secure space for daily operations, training, and shelter during hurricanes and other emergencies,” said Ryan Himmel, spokesperson for Coral Springs.
The police now have 7 air-conditioned kennels next to their training area, providing a valuable space for the unit to continue serving the community, according to Himmel.
“This project was funded through the American Rescue Plan Act. This building ensures we are taking care of our K9 partners who work alongside our officers every day to help keep Coral Springs safe,” said Himmel.
Commissioner Joe McHugh said he is pleased the police have a new K9 building. “This hurricane-proof building will benefit our K9 officers,” he said.
