Coral Springs teams competed in District and Regional Tournaments this week, while lacrosse season is in full swing.
The Coral Spring High School wrestling team finished second behind Marjory Stoneman Douglas. The Colts had Alex Haley, Shai Keery, Javier Romeus, and Jaylen Brown take first place. J.P. Taravella came in fourth place with 67 points, and Victor Dixon and Jacob Rosen came in first place individually.
Coral Springs Charter competed in a different district but also finished in second place, with all nine of their wrestlers placing. Peter Mocco came in first, with Andrew Ridge, Angel Patino, Elijah Perez, and Preston Lindsay finishing second. Logan Bosworth finished in third place, while Nick Florio and Owyn Vargas came in third. Noah Delpino also competed and came in fourth place.
The Coral Glades girls lacrosse team moved to 1-0 following a 9-7 win against Olympic Heights High School. Allura Buelvas scored five goals while Brianna Brown had three, and Leila Hartley also found the back of the net. They play CSHS in their next game on Friday, February 23, at 5 p.m. The Lady Colts went 1-6 last year, while J.P. Taravella, who also went 1-6, will be playing in their first game on Tuesday, February 20, against West Broward High School.
The Coral Glades boys lacrosse team is 0-2 this year. They lost 13-3 against Olympic Heights Community High School and 16-2 against Ramdon Everglades High School. Austin Allison has scored four goals this year, while Ryan Steinberg has scored one, and Andrew Eccleston has scored three goals.
The CSHS boys lacrosse team started the year 1-3. They beat Okeechobee 11-2 but have losses against North Broward Prep, LaSalle, and Cooper City. CSHS will play against Coral Glades on Friday, February 23.
JPT boys lacrosse is 1-1 following a 9-6 win against Cooper City High School. However, they fell 9-2 against Florida Christian High School In their other game and will play Pompano Beach High School in their next match on February 20 at 5 p.m.
