Tuesday was a great day for several cross-country teams, including Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Coral Springs High School, Coral Springs Charter, Coral Glades, and J.P. Taravella.
The boy’s race had 14 participating schools and 127 runners, while 11 teams competed for the girls at Markham Park in Weston.
Coral Springs Charter, which competes in a different district race, held theirs at South Country Regional Park in Boca Raton with 17 schools and 113 athletes.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas
The MSD boys team finished in seventh place, with Lucas Marrick having the best time of 20:20.28 to place in 33rd. Joesph Cardinale, Connor Greep, and Teyve Singh finished in the top 50.
For the girls, they had a wonderful day coming in first place. Devyn Sanders finished in second place, while Juliana Couch and Andres Abreu finished in the top ten, and Morgan Melchiorri, Grace Mackenzie, and Sofia Schorer Kaplan finished in the top 25.
Coral Springs High School
It had been an excellent season for the CSHS boys cross country team, but they could not advance as a team after coming in ninth. However, Jeffrey Belizaire will run individually in Regionals after coming in 15th with a time of 18.50.20
However, the girls advanced as a team after coming in fifth with a combined time of 2:14:56. Angelica Macarulay ran a great race and finished in seventh, one spot behind Couch from MSD. Josefine Majdoch, Briana Williams, and Lea Ramnarace ran well to help the Colts advance.
Coral Glades
The Coral Glades boys and team ran individually, and while their season ended, Ali Abdullah had a nice day to finish 38th. Chase De Los Santos, Ethan Weinstock, and Yahia Ziodean all competed for the boy’s team.
Coral Springs Charter
The CSC girls team advanced after coming in eighth place. Abby Foster was the top Panther to finish and came in 31st place at 23.09.42. Mackenzie Maniscalco finished three spots behind Marissa Micioni, Katie Foster and Lynnae Varkala, and Sabrina Gonzalez.
J.P. Taravella
Tanaris Jean-Pierre led JPT to a spot in regionals with a time of 18:49.50 to come in 13th. Tyler James followed and came in 27th place, while Tyler James, Marcos Noriega, and Akeam Beckford were the next three Trojans to finish.
Up next, MSD, CSHS, and JPT will run Regionals on Wednesday, November 3, while CSC will compete on November 5 at South Country Regional Park.
