On Friday, Florida Governor Rick Scott demanded FBI director Christopher Wray’s resignation in the wake of the Marjory Douglas High School school shootings.
This comes after the FBI’s admission that they failed to take action after receiving information on January 5, 2018, regarding “[Nikolas] Cruz’s gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.”
“The FBI’s failure to take action against this killer is unacceptable,” said Scott. “The FBI has admitted that they were contacted last month by a person who called to inform them of Cruz’s ‘desire to kill people,’ and ‘the potential of him conducting a school shooting.’
“Seventeen innocent people are dead and acknowledging a mistake isn’t going to cut it. An apology will never bring these 17 Floridians back to life or comfort the families who are in pain. The families will spend a lifetime wondering how this could happen, and an apology will never give them the answers they desperately need.
“We constantly promote ‘see something, say something,’ and a courageous person did just that to the FBI. And the FBI failed to act. ‘See something, say something’ is an incredibly important tool and people must have confidence in the follow through from law enforcement. The FBI Director needs to resign.”

Rich Scott is asking for the FBI director to resign for his agency’s failure to act. Using Scott’s logic, we should also be asking for Scott to resign. His agency, Florida Department of Children and Family had the suspect under investigation. Why didn’t he take action against the suspect?Gov. Scott stop playing politics and wipe the blood from your hands. You and Mike Carroll did not do enough to protect our children.
Agreed! With what information that has been made available so far seems Florida had the past 10 years to do something!
A lot has been done in the past 10 years, it was a tragedy, someone slipped through the system, lets do better.
Let’s do better and get rid of Scott and his appointments in key government position. He is a political hack backed by the NRA. He is not accountable, he prefers to blame others, such as the FBI. I am afraid he will do very little to protect the life and innocence of our children.
Your last sentence is a display of total ignorance and a sick agenda. No statement on the deputies who were involved 39 times with this person no mention of the sheriff who they report to no mention of the dcf employees who get paid to protect our youth no mention of the parkland mayor or the Broward county commissioners or the superintendent of schools just the governor. It is always easy to blame someone when a horrible tragedy occurs its now time to put all efforts to never let this happen again. You got your 15 minutes. Let the authorities handle this lets hear from the students, teachers and anyone else that can provide ways and means to protect everyone from the mentally ill. Pray for the victims and their families and offer help.
Little Rickie was quick to blame the FBI. He is very proud of his A + rating with the NRA. We also know his excuse not to attend the town hall meeting is BS. Again, I am afraid that Scott and his cronies will not come up with effective legislation to protect our children and others from gun violence.
Watching Gov. Scott on his plan to stop future shooting. If you want a comprehensive solution, you will need to intelligently discuss AR-15, the weapon of mass destruction, and not give us the NRA BS as well as closing the gun show loop holes. Stop being a NRA puppet. The NRA job is to sell more guns.
