The Rotary Club of Coral Springs is spreading some holiday cheer.
Members purchased toys and brought them to Broward Health Coral Springs on December 13. The toys included cars, action figures, puzzles, and other items for children in the hospital. Staff members distributed the toys to the children based on their ages and interests, according to Jean Regaldo, club president.
“We do an annual toy drive before Christmas, and we want to do something nice for the children at the hospital,” said Regaldo.
Rotary members then visited Good Hope Manor, a senior care housing facility in Oakland Park. A member dressed as Santa Claus distributed gifts and holiday cheer, according to Sal Golfo.
Kawana Jones, a Rotary member and English teacher at Coral Springs High School, participated in the toy drive. She is also organizing a donation drive for students and teachers at the school.
Jones has collected 15 bicycles that will be distributed to children from needy families who need reliable transportation to and from school. She is also collecting clothing and other items for students and teachers who are facing financial difficulties.
“We have students who can’t get to school on time because of transportation issues, and I want to provide them with a bicycle. This will help them get to school on time so they can avoid tardies,” said Jones.
She wants to start an Interact Club, which is a Rotary Club for high school students at Coral Springs, that would become active in the fall of 2026.
