Coral Springs Police on Monday arrested a Guatemalan man living in the U.S. illegally after detectives found child sex videos on his phone, according to court records.
Cesar Ortiz Godinez, 23, of the 4000 block of Riverside Drive, is charged with two counts of possessing depictions of sexual conduct by a child, the records show. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held on a $40,000 bond, plus an immigration hold, at the Broward Main Jail.
The arrest came shortly after Coral Springs Police Detective James Horne was assigned a cyber tip—generated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children—involving a report from Facebook of child porn being uploaded from a local IP address.
Horne traced the IP address to an apartment where he encountered Godinez, according to an arrest affidavit.
Godinez showed Horne the child porn on his phone and said someone had sent the content to him via WhatsApp, the records show.
The illegal videos showed children who appear to be between ages five and eight having sex with adults, police said.
Godinez, who said he did not know the identities of any of the children, was arrested at the scene.
