After 14 years of determination and continuous improvement, James S. Hunt Elementary School has earned an “A” school grade from the Florida Department of Education, marking the school’s first top rating since 2012.
The achievement makes Hunt Elementary the first school in Coral Springs to improve from its previous rating to earn an “A” after a 14-year journey, according to the school.
Principal Carla Hart credited the accomplishment to a collaborative effort built on high expectations, strong instruction and a student-centered approach to learning.
“This accomplishment belongs to our entire Hunt family,” Hart said. “Our students worked incredibly hard, our teachers never stopped believing in what was possible, and our families and community stood beside us every step of the way. Together, we proved that excellence is achieved through commitment, collaboration, and heart.”
Under Hart’s leadership, the school focused on strengthening classroom instruction, expanding professional development for teachers, increasing family engagement and ensuring students had the resources needed to succeed.
School officials said Hunt’s improvement was driven by targeted academic support, data-driven instruction and a continued emphasis on literacy, mathematics and student achievement. The school also expanded enrichment opportunities while recognizing student growth throughout the year.
In addition to its academic programs, Hunt Elementary serves a diverse student population through extracurricular activities, mentoring opportunities and student support services designed to help every child succeed.
The school’s achievement comes as Broward County Public Schools continues to maintain its districtwide “A” rating, with additional schools improving their state grades in recent years.
As the campus celebrates the milestone, banners and messages across the school proclaim: “14 years in the making… Hunt is an A!”
