The Coral Springs man responsible for a deadly crime spree that ended with three people dead Friday has been charged with two additional counts of murder, court records show.
Dale Spidle, 35, of 4113 NW 88th Ave., is charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon for killing Elizabeth Carmona, 61, and her 10-month-old nephew, Mateo, who she was babysitting in the apartment next to Spidle’s when the killings happened, authorities said.
Spidle was previously charged with another count of first-degree murder for fatally shooting a male motorist after causing a hit-and-run crash in Pompano Beach.
According to a GoFundMe page posted Wednesday, Carmona hailed from Colombia and recently came to Coral Springs to visit family.
“We are raising money to help the family of Baby Mateo and Elizabeth Carmona,” reads the fundraiser page. “The mother and niece of the [victims] just recently moved to Coral Springs, Fl. to raise her family.”
“Elizabeth had just retired a couple months ago in Colombia and came to Florida to spend time with her family. Elizabeth and Baby Mateo were both attacked by a neighbor on Friday and passed away from their injuries. Please help in any way you can. All is accepted, and all will help this family get through this terrible tragedy.”
Police said Carmona and the infant suffered “blunt force trauma” but have not provided further details about their deaths.
In addition to three counts of murder, Spidle is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary of an occupied dwelling, robbery by sudden snatching, resisting an officer, and three counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving damage, and reckless driving.
He was being held without bond Thursday at the Broward Main Jail.
Spidle’s arrest capped off a lethal spree that saw him fatally shoot a man, cause multiple hit-and-run crashes, rob a woman at a Walgreens pharmacy-drive thru, and kill Carmona and the infant, authorities allege.
The dead man’s name has not been made public.
During his arrest, a naked Spidle told officers he had a bomb in his rectum and was “going to kill everyone” as he was being Tased at a Shell gas station at Lyons and Sample Roads in Coconut Creek, records show.
Spidle has not entered a plea in the case.
