After spring break, several high schools in Coral Springs held Senior nights while two teams needed extra time to finish a flag football team.
On Wednesday, the Coral Glades baseball team honored their seniors during their game against Somerset Academy Canyons with Brayden Hoskins, Tyler Villanueva, and Asa Lindo. The game, though, will be remembered for the performance of Jason Lincoln, who tossed a no-hitter and had 12 strikeouts.
The Jaguars managed only one hit in the game but took advantage of five errors from the Cougars. Kaden Clark registered it, while Hoskins, Zack Allemer, and Caleb Kohnert all scored runs to help Coral Glades improve to 15-5 this season.
The Coral Springs High School boys lacrosse team played their final home match of the season on Wednesday in a rivalry game against J.P. Taravella. The Colts honored Dane Bezet, Camden Hulse, Christopher Belfort, Peter Phan, James Gustave, Nick Brock, James Defreitas, Brian Planas, and Titus Johnson before recording a 5-4 win. The Colts’ only win came by forfeit against Boyd H Anderson High School, and the team has scored 21 goals this season.
The Coral Glades boys lacrosse team held Senior night in March but had one of their most impressive wins in their last game on Tuesday against Cooper City High School. The Jaguars scored the game-winning goal with under a minute left in the game to record their sixth win. They previously had two wins against J.P. Taravella and Cooper City High School, along with one against Pompano Beach High School.
There was also a wild flag football game, with Coral Springs Charter defeating J.P. Taravella 6-0 in overtime. Ali Rodriguez, who threw for 145 yards in the game, threw a 20-yard pass to Riley Guerrera for the winning score. Arianna Irizarry and Rodriguez combined for 70 yards, while Irizarry led the way with five catches for 40 yards.
Analeigh Arredonda, Brenna Mazanec, and Kaylee Stewart all had receptions, with Marcela Certuche pulling a team-high four flags. Guerrera also added two interceptions to help the Panthers improve to 6-1 this year.
Coral Glades improved to 11-1 following their 20-0 win against Holywood Hills High School. The Lady Jaguars also pitched their 11th straight shutout after allowing 40 points in their first game against Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
Coral Springs High School remains winless this year after scoring its only touchdown against Coral Springs Charter in March.
