J.P. Taravella High School had three teams all shine this past week, with two recording their first win.
The girls lacrosse team faced Coral Springs High School on Tuesday in an exciting matchup. With both teams looking to get their first win, the Trojans picked up a 13-7 win to move to 1-1 this year after winning four games last year.
Samantha Blakely scored five goals, while Rachel Backer and Sarah Zougahi had three goals. Kelia Navarro De Jesus also added two, while the rest of the team consists of Daneya Valecillos, Natalie Black, Sara Camacho, Susanna Daley, Catherine Mona, Madison Brown, Sophia Casseus, Nicole Alvarez, Jayla Smith, Nicole Machado, Nevtali Paul, Jenee Richardson, Kyla Leslie, and Victoria Tedesco.
The Trojans will play on Monday, March 6, against Coral Glades. The Jaguars are 1-7 this year, with their lone win against Pompano Beach High School.
The boys lacrosse team also defeated Coral Springs High School on Thursday.
The Trojans had dropped their first seven games of the season but scored 36 goals in those games, with Cayden Schroeder scoring ten. Tremaine Bell added five, while Teddy Bosch has shined with four goals. Maurico Leja, Cameron Burdge and Deacon Linderman all have one goal.
The rest of the team consists of Pharrell Williams, Nathan Parson, Donald Leja, Jeremiah Chisolm, Ivan Diaz, Jarel Mercedes, John Roberts, Mikael “Prince” Paul, Ben Williams, Jaiyhir Blake, Daniel Gutierrez, Lucas Prendez, Dwight Pardo, Taleik Paye, Miller Froyd, Chase Evans, and Santiago Mejia.
The J.P. Taravella softball team beat South Broward High School 9-7 for their first win and then went on to o beat McArthur High School 14-4 on Thursday to move 2-1.
Their team consists of Summer Givens, Destiny Tizol, Shanice Brunson, Gianna Blake, Bianca Nicholson, Mya Barrios, Natalie Meighan, Alyssa Grierson, Samia Telfort, Sabrina Naranjo, Tatyana Rodriguez, Dominque Franklin.
Next, JPT will Flanagan High School on Monday, Feb.6, at 6:30 p.m. The Falcons are 2-1 this year with wins over Piper and Plantation High School and scored 43 runs in those two games.
