A custodian at Coral Springs Middle School was arrested on Tuesday following allegations from a former student he coached, that he sexually molested him.
The 15-year-old boy, who no longer attends the school, went to the Coral Springs Police on Monday and told detectives about an incident, which allegedly happened on Saturday when Robert Grant, 27, drove the victim to the school on Saturday to help him with his algebra homework.
The victim told detectives that Grant, who was a mentor as well as being his flag football coach, had keys to the school allowing him to enter at all times. Grant led him to the school gym after they finished his homework where Grant instructed the victim to lay on the floor so he could stretch, although he didn’t ask to be stretched.
According to the statement, Grant stood over the teen, stretching his hamstring, then abruptly and intentionally pulled down the victim’s shorts and underwear and performed oral sex on him. Grant did this all while speaking to another person on the phone advising them of stretching moves. While the other person counted, Grant would continue to perform oral sex.
The victim told police that he “froze” and was scared to say anything because he didn’t know what Grant would do next and was in fear Grant would kidnap him.
Detectives said the victim also disclosed that back in June of 2017, Grant assisted with stretching and training as well as checked on a prior injury he sustained in the groin area while they werealone in his vehicle. The teen said Grant had placed his hands inside his pants on at least ten occasions, groping his testicles for a few seconds each time.
Contact was made with staff at the middle school and surveillance video confirmed that Grant was alone with the victim at the school between 6:21 p.m. and 9:24 p.m. on Saturday.
Grant admitted to police he was helping the teen stretch, although the victim didn’t ask to be stretched, and said that the teen also played basketball by himself. However, he denied any sexual allegations stating he then drove the teen home.
Grant was arrested Tuesday at the school on multiple counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a minor and sexual battery of a minor and ordered held without bond.
According to an email from Broward County Public Schools where Grant was employed, he has been reassigned to a position away from students.

There have been several incidents involving this custodian doing questionalble things to kids within this school. Even the principal and Athletic Director knew about the molestations. Incidents were reported all the way to the top (Principal Murray). The custodian is somehow related to the Principal and he has been protecting this janitors behavior. There is even a coach that “voluntarily left” because nothing was being done to protect the kids after she found the custodian (Robert) locked in a dark room with kids.
