
Coral Springs High School Wrestling Team Wins City Championship. {David Volz}
Coral Springs High School had three wrestlers officially commit to continue their college athletic careers, while another basketball player received All-State recognition.
Shai Keery is committed to Kesier University and was a BCAA and District Championship before placing third at Regionals and seventh at the State Championship. Javier Romeus committed to St. Thomas University following a strong high school career.
“Blessed to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at St. Thomas University,” Romeus said. “Thank you to my family, coaches, and everyone who’s supported me along the way.”
Romeus also won a District Championship and came in fourth place at the State Championship. Abigail Moyer is from the girl’s team committed to Point Park University. She was the District and Regional Champion and then went on to place fourth at the State Championship.
Alex Pierre-Louis, who recently committed to Santa Fe College, was named to the All-State Team. He reached 1,000 points in his high school career and finished his senior year averaging 22.3 points per game. He ranked 24th in Florida in field goals with 217 and 470th nationally with 79 made three-pointers, while also scoring 42 points in a game this year.
“Being selected 6A first team All-State felt amazing considering the fact that I had 3rd team last year,” Pierre-Louis said.“Goes to show how much time me and my coaches put in worked.
Pierre-Louis also scored in double figures in all 28 games this year, which featured the Colts going 18-10 before falling in Regionals to St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He became the fourth player to be named to the All-State Team, joining Elton Brown (1983), Johnny Jones (1984), and Myron Dewar (2016).
