The City of Coral Springs continues to provide mobile vaccinations for senior living communities, and this week they opened up a temporary site.
Thanks to a generous donation of mobile offices from FORTS Services, Coral Springs opened up a POD site at Lions Park, an underserved area of the city, to accommodate the vaccination of seniors without transportation, have mobility issues or are unable to obtain an appointment due to language or other barriers.
This site will administer 50 vaccinations per day to registered participants. All appointments are pre-booked, there is no availability for registration.
To determine eligibility and registration, the city works with victim advocates, clergy, and school guidance counselors.
As an ongoing effort to protect the vulnerable senior population from COVID-19, the city also began the vaccination of homebound seniors.
Seniors are registered through their Community Paramedic Program and Vulnerable Population registries and have been identified as unable to leave home due to disability or illness.
This program is ongoing, with up to five vaccinations provided in-home per day by a nurse and Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department paramedic.
Patients cannot call to be added to the registry at this time; these are existing registrants.
