Amazon Inc. on Wednesday said a new delivery station would open in Coral Springs Commerce Park, a project the company said would create 200 local jobs.
The facility at 4000 NW 126th Ave. “will power the last mile of Amazon’s order process and help increase the efficiency of deliveries for customers,” the global commerce giant said in a press release.
Amazon did not say when the facility would open.
“Delivery stations…offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own business delivering Amazon packages,” the company said. “In addition, independent contractors gain the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex.”
Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook lauded Amazon’s arrival and the new, 250,000 square-foot facility.
“The creation of 200 full-time, diverse jobs in a post-pandemic climate is the boost we needed to jump-start a stronger economy long term,” said Brook. “Amazon’s move to the newly built facility is a strong signal to other large employers and industry leaders the benefits of our city’s location to the Sawgrass Expressway and connectivity to neighboring communities.”
The Coral Springs project was announced as part of a slate of new Amazon investments across Florida; projects are expected to create more than 2,000 full-time jobs.
According to the company, Amazon currently operates more than 50 sites in Florida that support customer fulfillment and delivery operations, including more than 10 facilities that launched in 2020.
Amazon has also been busy in Tamarac: The company recently finalized a deal to lease a 178,240-square foot warehouse building in Tamarac Commerce Park, just north of City Furniture along the Sawgrass Expressway.
The warehouse will become what the company calls a Sub-Same Day fulfillment center, facilities near customers that help the company quickly deliver products, usually within 5 hours of ordering.
