Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a gunman who opened fire at another driver during a road rage incident on the Sawgrass Expressway near Coral Springs, authorities said.
Brandon Beever, 29, of Fort Lauderdale, was charged Tuesday with attempted felony murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and improperly exhibiting a firearm, according to court records.
He was being held without bond Wednesday at the Broward Main Jail.
Beever allegedly fired two shots from the driver’s seat of his black Mercedes Benz on Nov. 11 as he drove south on the Sawgrass Expressway between Lyons Road and State Road 7, shortly after 8:15 a.m., according to FHP.
Troopers said Beever was aiming his gun at a 63-year-old man behind the wheel of a gray Nissan Altima, who Beever had cut off in traffic before the men flashed each other their middle fingers, according to an FHP arrest report.
One of the bullets shattered the passenger side window of the Altima, its broken glass cutting and bloodying the driver, according to FHP.

The victim had been on his way to his job in Parkland when the shooting happened, according to the arrest report.
After opening fire, Beever exited the expressway at State Road 7 without stopping, troopers said. He was soon caught by the Florida Highway Patrol Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, in collaboration with the Broward Sheriff’s Office, troopers said.
