A.J. Prendergast wrapped up an incredible high school career with the Coral Springs Charter baseball team.
After a three-year varsity career, Prendergast finished 12-3 with an ERA of 1.21. That included three no-hitters, including one against Coral Springs High School, where he struck out 20, finishing his career with 177 punchouts.
Despite a valiant effort against the reigning State Champions, Prendergast credits his coach Charlie Fine and the rest of the administration at Coral Springs Charter.
“The memories we created as a team from this year and years prior are ones that will never be forgotten because we made sure we weren’t just a team, Prendergast said. “I knew everyone had each other’s back at any given moment, and that’s what made us brothers.”
After he graduates, Prendergast is set to continue his college baseball career at Flagler College. While Head Coach Charlie Fine will miss his star pitcher, he is confident that he will shine at the next level.
“A.J. had an excellent career at Charter athletically, but more than that, he was a great person and a leader, said Coach Fine. “He has helped elevate this program to another level, and hopefully, our younger players can learn from his example. I wish him the very best at the next level.”
