Coral Springs Police released the video of the Daniela Tabares Maya and Yvonne Serrano leaving a bar — hours before Maya was shot dead in Serrano’s driveway.
At 1:30 a.m. on November 23, Maya, 21, and Serrano, 51, were seen walking out of World of Beer at Promenade at Coconut Creek with Maya driving Serrano home in her truck.
It was at 5:55 a.m. that Maya was found in Serrano’s driveway, dead from a gunshot wound to her head after Serrano called 911 telling them there was a dead body in her driveway. She told the dispatcher she did not know who she was, or whose car was in her driveway, even though they spent the evening together with friends and rode home together.
What police do not know at this time is Serrano’s motivation for allegedly killing her. The shell casing outside Maya’s Nissan truck was from a 9 mm round, and according to Coral Springs Police, Serrano has a concealed carry permit and owns three handguns: two 9mm pistols and a .45 caliber.
Serrano told police she had taken her Sig Sauer P365 out that night. This particular gun, which was in Serrano‘s bedroom, fires 9mm rounds.
Blood was also found on the Sig Sauer, and its holster, police reported.
The two women were part of a large group of friends who attend the same gym called Training for Warriors in Coral Springs. They were out that particular evening to see a movie and socialize before Maya gave Serrano a ride home.
Maya’s funeral was on November 27.
Serrano was arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence – including deleting footage from her RING doorbell camera, and Murder in the Second Degree. She is being held with no bond at Broward County Jail.
