The Coral Springs Charter boys’ and girls’ bowling teams have been extremely successful this year, finishing in second place in the BCAA Bowling Championship.
The boys’ team, who came into the event on Tuesday with a 27-3 record, is led by Tyler Harris. He bowled in 20 matches and knocked down 3,798 pins, including a high score of 249, one pin higher than teammate Dalton Mason.
Derrick Lai ranks third on the team with 2,843 pins, while Rashad Bhaiji, Ryan Ugalde, and Christian Escalona are all averaging scores of 104 or better with over 1,250 pins knocked over.
The girls have won 25 of 30 matches this season and were only beaten by South Plantation on Tuesday.
Danielle Lucas is the team’s top bowler, averaging 138 through 20 rounds. That is 11 pins higher than Alexis Diaz, who ranks second on the team. Alexa Trejo, Faith Tucker, and Natalie Torres have combined 4,980 pins.
“They came together, supported each other, kept it positive,” said Head Coach Andy Groothius. “Most importantly, they all love being a part of this team together, and having that to build off of is what every coach truly wants for their kids.”
