A fundraiser has been launched to help the family of a 26-year-old pool service technician who drowned in a Coral Springs swimming pool.
In the days since Josemanuel Peña, known to loved ones as “Josemanuelito,” was found dead in the pool at a home in the 8000 block of Northwest 35th Court, his family has turned to GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and financial needs arising from his loss.
The fundraiser was organized by Peña’s cousin, Daniela Archila, who described their close bond.
“My heart is broken as I write this,” Archila, of Hollywood, wrote on the fundraiser page. “Josemanuelito was more than my cousin; he was like a brother to me. We grew up sharing a bond, and he filled our lives with love, laughter, and faith.”
Born on December 27, 1999, Peña worked as a pool service technician and was described by loved ones as kind, disciplined, and a natural leader whose faith in God guided his life.
Peña is survived by his parents, Jose Manuel Peña and Rina Archila, and his sisters, Patricia and Estefania. Family members said he was a devoted son and brother whose love for his family “had no limits.”
He was passionate about soccer and a dedicated supporter of Arsenal F.C. He also enjoyed going to the gym and maintaining a disciplined lifestyle, according to the fundraiser page. Loved ones said he shared a close relationship with his girlfriend, Amanda, and had hoped to build a future with her.
“Josemanuelito was the light in every room,” Archila wrote. “His laugh, his energy, his presence—there’s a void now that can never be filled. He touched so many lives, from his closest friends to the children who looked up to him as if he were family.”
The fundraiser had raised more than $10,000 toward a $16,000 goal as of Friday evening.
No foul play is suspected in Peña’s death.
“Any contribution—no matter how small—will help us give him a dignified farewell and provide comfort to his family during this difficult time,” wrote Archila.
