Law enforcement has released the disturbing details of a Coral Springs man’s sexual assault crimes.
A Broward County Sheriff’s Office warrant for the arrest of Daniel Thomas Snell, 23, of Coral Springs, shows that in April, the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children task force received a cyber tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children. This was obtained from the instant messaging service Snapchat after the company discovered his account had been distributing child pornography.
According to public records of the crime, Snell was found to have allegedly posted a 55-second clip of an adult male having sex with a female child between the ages of 5 and 7. The video reportedly ended with a watermark that read “contact me” and listed a website address.
Detectives conducted a thorough investigation that included work with Bluestream, Snell’s internet provider, that resulted in confirmation that he had child pornography.
During a search of his Snapchat account, detectives allegedly discovered multiple messages from Snell’s account that alluded to his desire to have sex with underage girls, specifically those of African-American descent.
The report shows that the investigation found Snell’s listed home address near the 4100 block of Northwest 88th Avenue. On August 15, law enforcement contacted Snell in the parking lot of the Ramblewood East Apartment complex, where they served him a warrant that called for confiscating his cell phone.
The arrest warrant shows Snell, in his father’s company, quickly complied, provided passcodes to his devices, and assured detectives there would be no child pornography found. However, the report shows a search of Snell’s phone resulted in the discovery of child pornography.
In addition, a more detailed search of Snell’s device resulted in detectives discovering a video of what appeared to be Snell sexually battering a 16 or 17-year-old girl who appeared to be naked and incapacitated inside a Subway restaurant. The location was later found to be the 5418 North University Drive store, where Snell had previously worked.
According to details of the assault, the girl is seen in the video sitting naked in a Subway restaurant chair as Snell assaults her, even as she can be heard on the video asking to leave and pushing his hands away.
The incident reportedly happened on July 4, 2021, the same day a passerby reported seeing a female naked inside the store with two males; however, the report shows responding officers did not discover anything unusual upon arrival.
Investigators eventually discovered the victim was also an ex-Subway employee and unaware of what had occurred until being told of the video footage. The victim reportedly only remembered later encounters at Snell’s home, where she assumed she had consented to sex but was unsure due to consumption of alcohol and marijuana she now believes may have been spiked with some substance.
Upon learning of her sexual assault, the victim told detectives she had called a friend to help her close the store because she felt unsafe with Snell, who she labeled “a sicko that needs to go to jail.”
On August 24, Snell was taken into custody and arrested for sexual assault on a helpless victim and video voyeurism. No details are yet available regarding Snell’s alleged child pornography crimes.
Snell was transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was released after posting a $60,000 bond.
