Brad Mock was sworn in Thursday as Coral Springs’ new police chief, becoming the eighth person to lead the department.
Mock, who replaces Chief Bradley McKeone, officially accepted the top cop job on Jan. 10.
McKeone, who retired from the police department to become Coral Springs’ deputy city manager, symbolically handed over the reins of command at a transfer of command ceremony Friday.
“I’m excited to get to work. Let’s roll up our sleeves. Let’s do this,” Mock said at the ceremony, adding he was deeply honored to hold the position and is fully committed to the safety of officers and residents.
Mock’s message to Coral Springs citizens and businesses was clear.
“We are going to do everything we can to protect you,” the new chief said. “If you come to our city to victimize our residents or our business, we will use everything in our power to find you and make sure justice is sought. There is nowhere you can run; there is nowhere you can hide. There’s nowhere you can flee to. We will find you.”
“You do not come into Coral Springs and commit crimes.”
Mock began his CSPD career in 1998 and served as a patrol officer until 2004 when he was transferred to the Tactical and Gang Unit.
He won a promotion to sergeant in 2007. In January 2010, he was promoted to lieutenant and supervised patrol until July 2010, when he was made captain.
Among other key roles Mock has served as commander of the CSPD Special Weapons and Tactics Team, captain of the Special Operations Component, and captain of the Criminal Investigations Component, which includes SVU and CSI.
