Parkridge Christian Academy at Parkridge Church received crucial volunteer support this past week as it prepares to welcome its inaugural 9th graders.
This coming school year begins Parkridge’s journey into high school education. The expansion has included additional buildings and, of course, furniture that must be put together inside those buildings, where the school needed some help from volunteers.
Boxes of furniture for the new floor arrived at the academy, and despite hiring a crew to assist with the setup, more hands were needed to ensure everything was ready before students arrived the next week.
Stepping up to the challenge, parishioners from Parkridge Church volunteered their time and energy to help assemble the furniture, working along with a hired crew.
The volunteers began their work last week and continued through Saturday morning until the final pieces were in place while construction workers were also on-site, putting the finishing touches on the new building.
Parkridge Christian Academy is now set to accept high school students, beginning with 30 students in 9th grade. The school plans to expand with each graduating class, eventually accommodating an entire high school.
The expansion is a significant step for Parkridge Christian Academy, which the school’s principal, Joshua Halulko, said has experienced substantial growth in recent years.
“We’ve needed this building for a few years due to the growth of this school,” Halulko said to Coral Springs Talk by Newsworthy Stories Jacqueline Jimenez.
Halulko also said that the new additions have enabled Parkridge Christian Academy to accept more students, something it was reluctantly unable to do.
“We’ve had to turn away a lot of kids who wanted to be part of this school and who wanted Christian education,” Halulko said, adding, “We have now been able to increase the number of students now that are here at our Christian academy to close to 600 students that will be here in the fall this year, and we are so excited for that.”
Previously a K-8 school, Halulko says launching its first-ever 9th-grade class is a milestone that not only required more space, furniture, and volunteers but also generated immense excitement for the future ahead.
The class will start small and begin to expand, culminating in the school’s first graduating class in four years.
“We’re excited to start 9th grade this year, where we will begin with about 30 students who will move up with us and be part of our first graduating class, Class of 2028.”
As part of the school’s expansion, church members gathered to write scripture on the concrete before the flooring was laid on the new floor, ensuring that the students would be “standing on the Word of God” every day they attended class.
Halulko expressed his gratitude for the church’s involvement, sharing that walking through the halls this past weekend made it all come together.
“A couple of weeks ago, our church came up and wrote Bible verses on our second floor. We had a chance to walk through, and we’re just so grateful for the prayers and care our church has shown to this new piece of our property that the church and our new school will use.”
