A Coral Springs man was arrested after allegedly threatening a minor with a knife while making racist remarks at Mullins Park.
According to Coral Springs Police Department records, officers responded to Mullins Park on December 14 following reports of an assault.
Upon arrival, records show officers made contact with the juvenile victim, who alleged that the suspect, identified as Stoner Parsons II, 57, of Coral Springs, threatened him with a knife near the park’s football fields.
According to the police report, the victim was charging his phone at a pavilion when Parsons began yelling racial slurs toward him. The victim said the initial remarks were, “Get out of here, Nigg–!” but he was unsure if they were directed at him, so he didn’t turn around.
The victim told CSPD officers that while he initially ignored Parsons, when the racist comments escalated, he turned to see Parsons holding a black folding pocketknife.
Parsons allegedly slammed the open knife on the table and yelled, “Get out of here, Nigg–. Do you guys never learn?” The victim said he unplugged his phone and left the area, worried he would be stabbed if he stayed or engaged Stoner any longer.
Police located Parsons at the pavilion, listening to music on a Bluetooth speaker. During a search, officers found a knife on Parsons’ waistband matching the description provided by the victim.
Parsons initially declined to speak with officers but later gave conflicting statements, claiming he had not threatened anyone and was talking either on the phone or to himself.
Parsons was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
