Teammates on the football team during their junior year at Coral Glades, Colton Eisenberg and Demetri Robinson, are not only teammates again in college, but roommates, making their debut with Dodge City Community College in Kansas.
With Dodge City looking for a kicker, Robinson, who graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas, knew the exact person to call.
“Being able to play with my best friend in college is something not many best friends get to experience,” Eisenberg said. “I believe Demetri is one of the best offensive linemen in all of JUCO (junior college), and his future is definitely exciting for sure.
Robinson plays on the offensive line for Dodge City and has helped pave the way for a pair of 100-yard rushers. Despite only playing in two games due to COVID:19 during his senior year.
“My college experience been pretty good,” said Robinson, a Coral Springs resident. “My first year, I redshirted to develop and get the feel of everything, and the next year I developed and came back better.”
Also from Coral Springs, Eisenberg was one of the premier high school kickers and punters. He also made an impact in the community with his donations of $125 to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital for every field goal and extra point, along with all his touchbacks and punts inside the 20.
After graduating from Coral Glades in 2020, Eisenberg took a year off. Since then, he has punted 11 times with a long of 62 yards and six inside of the 20-yard line through the team’s first three games. This year, Dodge City has victories over Highland Community and Diamond Football Academy.
Next, Dodge City will be in action against Garden City Community College on Saturday, October 1, at 7 p.m. While both players will still have one more year left at Dodge City, they both have an opportunity to play Division I football next year.
