Lauren’s Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and supporting survivors, is bringing its annual ‘Walk In My Shoes’ fundraising event to Coral Springs.
The ‘Walk in My Shoes’ event – set to take place on April 7 – is part of a more extensive 1,500-mile trek across Florida, raising awareness and providing hope and healing to those affected by child sexual abuse.
The walk will start at the Coral Springs Gymnasium’s north parking lot, 2501 Coral Springs Drive. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., and the walk officially starts at 10:00 a.m.
Participants are invited to walk the full 9-mile stretch to Aston Gardens Senior Center in Parkland at 5999 North University Drive but are encouraged to walk a block, a mile, or more—every step contributes to the fight to prevent child sexual abuse.
To ensure convenience, walkers will receive an Uber code for a return ride to the starting location.
The event aligns with National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Child Abuse Prevention Month, reinforcing the importance of taking action against abuse and standing in solidarity with survivors.
As part of the event activities, attendees can participate in a friendship bracelet-making session during registration. The bracelets will be donated to the Nancy J. Cotterman Center, Broward County’s local sexual assault program.
Lauren’s Kids, founded by State Senator Lauren Book, has been at the forefront of advocacy and education, working to provide resources, support, and legislation to protect children. The ‘Walk In My Shoes’ campaign has become a significant movement, fostering community and activism across Florida.
Those interested in participating can register online at Lauren’s Kids Walk Registration. Registration is $25 per person and ends on April 6.
