The Coral Springs City Commission Recognized the 12 winners of the city’s 2nd annual recycled art contest at their Wednesday meeting at City Hall, located at 9500 W. Sample Road.
For the contest, Coral Springs students or those who attend city schools used recycled materials found throughout the community.
“The contest winners took items that others might see as trash and transformed them into beautiful, whimsical pieces,” said Lynne Martzall, director of communications and marketing.
Some of the artwork included plastic-bottle fish, aluminum can monsters, a macaroni-and-cheese-box guitar, and a recycled rooster.
The city received 90 submissions through March. The artwork was displayed at City Hall in April where a judging panel selected 12 winners.
“These students really unleashed their creative spirit for this year’s contest,” Martzall said.
