Coral Springs Charter softball is one of the most successful softball programs in Florida, having produced dozens of collegiate athletes.
Brianna Godfrey was one of the all-time best softball players at CSC, winning three State Championships. She began her career at Marshall University and recently wrapped up her second season with the University of Maryland. She was nearly perfect in her first start for her new team and continued that into junior year.
Godfrey won six games and pitched five shutouts. She had two wins at Rutgers University and one against Utah, Georgia Southern, Purdue, and Howard University.
Mark Montimurro called her one of the best to ever come through the Charter program and said she can do it all.
“The over-arching quality of Bri Godfrey was that she put in the extra work to become a star,” Montimurro said. “And on top of that, she was a great teammate and exceptionally coachable.”
Bridget Dunham also won multiple State Championships at CSC and made the Second Team All-Conference with Keiser University. She played and started in all 53 games, batting .331 with 59 hits, 19 RBI, two doubles, and two triples.
As a junior, Dunham hit .345 and had 15 RBIs. Montimurro says he wishes his team consisted of nine Bridget Dunhams.
Grade Derstine graduated in 2023 from CSC and has hit .267 and six extra-base hits. She also drove in 21 runs after spending five years on the varsity softball team, where she hit .381 as a senior,
CSC had three freshmen compete in their first year in college: Stephanie Basso, Alivia Taibl, and Kate Maston. Basso played at Coastal Carolina and recorded her first collegiate hit and RBI against the University of North Carolina.
Kate Maston had her first career RBI in college against Saint Francis and reached base with a walk against the University of Central Florida. Taibl competed in the same conference as Maston at Stetson University and scored 13 runs after being primarily used as a pinch runner.
