Parkland organization Not My Daughter, Find a Cure Now which funds research to eradicate breast cancer, awarded a $20,000 check last Friday to a nonprofit who will use it towards ground-breaking cancer research.
The “Martini’s, Meatballs & Membership” event hosted by the Greater Broward Chapter of The Paps Corps at the Parkland Isles Clubhouse was presented with the check by the Not My Daughter organization which will then go directly to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center – South Florida’s only university-based cancer center.
Parkland resident Denyse Hostig, one of the inspirations behind Not My Daughter, along with Debi Weisman, Jodi Sternfield and many of their members created a collaborative relationship who worked closely with the president of the Greater Broward Chapter of The Pap Corps, Lori Margolis.
“We were excited to team up with Not My Daughter Find a Cure Now and raise money to combat this terrible disease,” said Margolis. “The partnership between our two organizations resulted in raising awareness and a significant amount of money towards our shared goal.”
Previous fundraisers by Not My Daughter have resulted in over $300,000 to many organizations including Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society. For a second consecutive year, they selected The Greater Broward Chapter of The Pap Corps as one of their recipient charities.
The Pap Corps, is an all volunteer organization with over 20,000 members and 53 chapters throughout South Florida, and the Greater Broward Chapter consists of over 200 men and women living in the Parkland, Coral Springs, and Coconut Creek area. It is the largest grassroots organization in the United States that is dedicated solely to funding research for all types of cancers.
Said Margolis, “Our chapter’s belief has always been to support the efforts of many organizations that are working together to fund cancer research rather than compete against one another. A direct result of our outreach has been a crossover of support and membership.”
