After a great season for many local high school football teams, select players from Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Coral Springs High School, Coral Glades, Coral Springs Charter, and J.P. Taravella had the chance to compete for Team North in the Broward County Athletic Association All-Star Game.
“There’s a ton of talent out here, and it’s an unbelievable All-Star Game,” said Head Coach of Marjory Stoneman Douglas Quentin Short. “So privileged to be coaching great kids, and what a night for Broward County.”

For the Eagles, along with Coach Short, five players participated in Chris Cepeda, Calvin Fowler, Jack Levin, Aris Skarecki, and Rico Penaloza.
Cepeda and Fowler were each had tremendous seasons for MSD on defense. Cepeda finished fifth on the team with 26 tackles and had four interceptions, including a 103-yard pick-six against Coral Glades.
Levin and Skarecki played on the offensive line and helped Matthew Wilson run for 937 yards this year. They also protected quarterbacks Ryan Spallina and Hunter Rose, while Penaloza added 20 catches for 200 yards this season and a touchdown.
These five seniors helped the Eagles finish the regular season 6-3 and advance to the postseason before they fell to Western High School.
Coral Springs High School
The Colts had two players selected in quarterback Owens Noel-Jeune and defensive back Joshua Rose.
Noel-Juene had his best game come on Senior Night against West Boca Raton Community High School when he threw for three touchdowns. He also had strong games with Rose against North Broward Preparatory School and J.P. Taravella after the Colts won three games in Head Coach Ian Headley’s first season with the Colts.

After advancing to the State 8A playoffs for the first time, the Jaguars had four players represent the Team North for Coral Glades in Dylan Knaebel, Jojo Rispoli, Jaden Wilson, and Richie Maston.
Knaebel had a great season at quarterback for the Jaguars, who went 6-3. He threw for 1,600 yards, 20 passing touchdowns, three rushing in eight games. Knaebel also threw one in the game on Thursday and was offensive MVP.
Rispoli contributed several key rushing touchdowns and was terrific on defense alongside Wilson. Maston, though, shined on special teams and had four field goals this year, as well as one in the All-Star Game.
Coral Springs Charter
For the Panthers, Mason Phillips, Noah Fernandez, and Jose Resendiz were selected. Phillips shined in and surpassed 1,100 receiving yards on the season and added eight touchdowns.
Fernandez caught a pair of passes and played well defensively while Resendiz finished the season third on the team in tackles after going 5-5 in Head Coach Chris Haire’s first season in Coral Springs.
J.P. TaravellaÂ
The Trojans, who went winless in ten games, sent three seniors to the All-Star Game in quarterback Jeremiah Belony, running back Michael Brown, and offensive linemen Azhari Abbas.
All three of these seniors had great years and contributed to Team North’s win. These student-athletes are set to graduate in the spring and will hope to get the chance to play at the next level in college.
