The boys’ basketball teams in Coral Springs wrapped up the regular season with exciting matchups as well as Senior Nights.
The Coral Glades boys’ basketball team completed the season with a trip to the Big-8 Tournament, featuring the top eight teams in Broward County. The Jaguars knocked off Cypress High School 64-51 in the opening round before losing to St. Thomas Aquinas High School 78-66 in the Semifinals.
The Jaguars are 17-7 and entered the District Tournament as the top seed. They will face the winner of Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Santaluces High School in the semifinals.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Boca Raton Community High School will take on the winner of Spanish River and Park Vista Community High School.
The winner will advance to face top-seeded Cypress Bay High School in the regional semifinals. Western High School and West Broward High School both earned byes and will meet in the other regional semifinal.
The Coral Springs High School boys team closed the regular season with a thrilling 73–69 victory over Plantation High School, finishing 17–7 in one of the toughest districts in the country. Seniors Craig Bryant Jr., Jamir Davis, Alejandro Osorio, Matt Croissy, and Josiah Davis were honored following the win.
The Colts enter the postseason as the No. 4 seed and will face FAU High School in the opening round. The Owls went 9–12 this season and will advance to face Calvary Christian Academy, ranked No. 1 in Florida and No. 2 nationally.
On the other side of the bracket, North Broward Prep, ranked fourth in the state and 24th nationally, earned a bye and will meet Saint Andrew’s School in the semifinals.
The J.P. Taravella boys team finished the regular season strong with a 67–33 win over Nova High School, ending the year 14–6. Seniors Adrian Diaz, Nick Florea, and Jaiden Colquhon helped lead the Trojans, who are seeded fourth at Regionals.
JPT will host Piper High School in the opening round on Monday, February 2, at 7 p.m. Piper enters the matchup at 9–10 after defeating Taravella 57–54 earlier this season. The winner will advance to play top-seeded Cypress Bay, while Western and West Broward meet in the other semifinal.
The Coral Springs Charter boys team finished the regular season 8–12 and earned the No. 4 seed. The Panthers will face FAU High School in the opening round of districts on Tuesday, February 3, at 6 p.m. The Owls enter at 10–12, with the winner advancing to face Calvary Christian Academy. North Broward Prep and Saint Andrew’s School both received byes and will meet in the district semifinals.
