Coral Springs Charter JV Baseball and Softball Team. {CSC Athletics}

The Coral Springs Charter junior varsity baseball and softball team have combined to post an incredible 22-2-1 record this season.
JV Baseball
In the Panthers’ final game on Saturday, CSC swept a doubleheader from St. Thomas Aquinas High School to go 12-1-1.
“I can’t say enough about this team and what they have accomplished,” said Head Coach Scott Smith. “It’s rare to have a dugout with their chemistry. We have a lot of young talent moving up through the program. Playing some of the top programs and coming away with a record like this is no easy task.”
The Panthers finished the season with four players posting a batting average of at least .400 in Yaddison Karbalaieasghar, Anton Fournier, Ethan Wells, and Carter Wojcik. Joseph Martinelli, Mason Alexander, and Damarion Chung. Kiernan O’Neil batted above .300.
The Panthers also got contributions offensively from Brady Shimek, Nicolas Campbell, Kyle Beck, Jack Grasso, and Julien Spinola.
On the mound, Marcelo Young did not allow a run. Aiden Tarshis, who moved up to varsity, also pitched well and had an ERA of 1.11. Andrew Raucci had an era under and pitched on varsity as well. Dylan Applebaum, Derek Godfrey, Dylan Stolov, and Kate Maston all shined in their appearances on the mound.
While the season is over, five more players in Wells, Karbalaieasghar, O’Neal, Wildrought, and Martinelli, will play on the varsity team, joining Tarshis and Raucci. Wells and Karbalaieasghar got into the Panthers’ walk-off win on Friday against Somerset Academy.
With the Panthers having nine seniors on their team, many players should move up to play on varsity next year after a great run on JV.
JV Softball
The JV softball team went 10-1 and outscored their opponents 119-34 this year. They had their biggest wins of the season come against American Heritage, Cooper City, Western, and Monarch High School.
Head Coach Amanda Gomez said this was a fantastic season and is incredibly proud of all the hard work they put in each day.
“They worked together and played every game with heart, said Coach Gomez. “To say that I am impressed that this team of three high school players and ten middle school players going 10-1 against high school teams would be an understatement.”
Courtney Wahlbrink, Jordan Shurpin, and Madison Leonard were outstanding on the mound, pitching two shutouts. They were back by terrific defense by Kaiana Gutierrez, Makenzie Maniscalco, and Mia Rodriguez.
Offensively, the Panthers were outstanding due to patient at-bats and timely hits. Leading was Addison Brown with over a .800 OBP, along with timely hits from Jessica Sacca, Sara Wrzosek, Ashlyn Ward, Briella Martinelli, Gyensynn Courtney, and Skylar Flack.
“I have never seen a group of players gel so quickly, said Coach Mike Aldrich. “We had a short season, so we needed to come out of the gate running, and this team had each other’s backs from the first practice. It was fun to watch them compete.”
With a pair of seniors set to graduate from the varsity team, there will undoubtedly be some openings with the future looking extremely bright at CSC.
