The Coral Springs Charter flag football team defeated J.P. Taravella 26-0 on March 24.
With an 8-0 record, coach Francois Griffin is pleased with how hard the players have worked and how they have bought into the program, which has led to ambitions for a district title. Their victories against Pompano Beach (12-0) and Coral Glades (13-7) exemplify this commitment.
Key players have made significant contributions to the season’s success. Quarterback Ali Rodriguez has performed well, running in two touchdowns. Her sister, Eva Rodriguez, had 48 receiving yards and caught a touchdown pass, while Riley Guerrera also caught a touchdown pass.
On defense, Brenna Mazanec made five flag pulls and an interception, while O’Meira Charlton contributed three sacks.
Ali said she is proud of her teammates and believes the team will continue to win, emphasizing their strong communication and dedication on the field. “We communicate well on the field and are dedicated to playing well. Our team is a family,” she said.
Panther players are also achieving success off the field. Natalia Conte is a receiver and linebacker with a 4.5 grade-point average and serves as president of the National Honor Society. In addition, she is the senior class vice president and hopes to pursue a career in television at Ave Marie University next fall.
