The College Academy @ BC will hold two informational Open Houses for students attending Coral Springs, Tamarac and Parkland Schools.

The location will be at Bailey Hall, Broward College, Central Campus, 3501 SW Davie Road, Davie, on Tuesday, January 29 at 7 p.m. (for students whose last names begin with A-L) and Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. (for students whose last names begin with M-Z).

Facebook Transaction Turns into a Face-to-Face Armed Robbery

Coral Springs Police have arrested two individuals for an armed robbery that occurred at 711 Riverside Drive.

On Tuesday, a juvenile victim, 17, approached several Coral Springs Motor Officers who were conducting training at the Coral Square Mall and reported he had just been the victim of an armed robbery. The victim stated that he arranged on Facebook to sell an iPhone 4 to two individuals later identified as Deandre Chambers, 24, of Lauderhill and Marc Jean, 17, of Coral Springs.

Suspect Arrested in 2007 Coral Springs Cold Case Homicide

The Broward State Attorney’s Office has indicted the man responsible for the death of a Coral Springs businessman whose remains were found in a metal box in Palm Beach Gardens.

On November 6, 2007, Francisco Cuevas, of Coral Springs was reported missing by a family member. Francisco was last seen on November 3, 2007, at 5914 Coral Ridge Drive, before he disappeared.

Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss the City’s Family Fun Day and Car Show on Saturday, February 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

City recognizes Coral Springs Charter School for ‘A’ rating

Last week, the Florida Department of Education released the 2011-2012 high school grade results. Coral Springs Charter, along with Coral Glades High, Coral Springs High, J.P. Taravella High, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, all received an ‘A’ rating based on students’ performance relative to state standards, graduation rates, participation and success in accelerated courses, and postsecondary preparation.

An 81 year old man who allowed his dog to maul a cat and was caught on video, was sentenced to three years in prison today.

Hume Hamilton was found guilty of animal cruelty charges and trespassing back in October The incident happened back in June when Hamilton was walking his pit bull when it attacked a cat belonging to Coral Springs resident Tia Spath.
